Effects of oversizing evaporative coolers - 2008/01/08 06:36
I notice that the Brivis Contour L43, L53 & L63 all share the same physical unit size, and there is a slifght variation in the weight of the units. What is the actual differance between them? it it the size (speed) of the fan motor or the amount of packing in the unit?
The reason I ask is because I want to know what detrimental effect, if any, oversizing a unit might have or is it possible to just throttle back the fan to compensate, as It';s usualy windy enough here outside without bringing gale force winds inside as well.
Any light shed on my theroies would be appreciated

Re:Effects of oversizing evaporative coolers - 2008/01/10 17:01 the difference between the models is:

number of blades on the fan
thickness of the celdek pads

i believe that is all that would affect the weight... you should get the right size, that way on low speed you won't hear it at all and at high speed it will cool your house sufficiently. if you got the biggest cooler even at low speed you will hear it (unless you design your ductwork to cope with the huge unit)
