ceiling vents for heating system - 2007/08/03 21:45 I have a ducted heating system which uses the "Down Vent" as the standard vent in each room. My only issue with these vents is the hissing sound issued from them when the vent is in the closed position and the heater is active.
Will changing the vent from a "Down Vent" to a "Round Diffuser" reduce/eliminate this noise?
I am mainly concerned about the vent in my home theatre room. The equipment (& I) doesn't like the heat but the hissing sound becomes annoying while watching dvds.

Re:ceiling vents for heating system - 2007/08/15 18:14 I don't believe changing the vents will reduce the noise. Possibly the fan speed on the heater is too high, or you have too many outlets closed. All outlets/vents with dampers are designed to adjust the air, not really stop it 100%

You could get in the ceiling and reduce the air flow further back with a damper...

all the best
